Janaki Temple is located in Janaki or Sita’s birthplace, Janakpur.This temple is made up of Mughal style. This temple, built in the birthplace of Sita who was famous in the Hindu religious book Ramayana, is magnificent and attractive.
This temple is also known as Naulakha Temple (nine hundred thousand rupees) because it was built by Princess Brishabhanu Kunwari of Tikamgadhi of Madhya Pradesh, India spending 9 lakh gold coins. A foundation stone was laid in 1894 AD and completed in 1911 AD. This temple is also a cultural heritage to the people of Mithilanchal. According to the annual schedule of the temple, almost all the cultural activities from birth to death are conducted here as per the Mithila traditions.
